Launched only a day ago, the Redmi K20 Pro flagship has already succeeded in adding a remarkable accomplishment to its name. The new smartphone has been included in the Android Q Beta testing program. Android Q’s beta build is now accessible for installation for the phone, however, it is only compatible for the Chinese variant of the Redmi K20 Pro yet. There are a lot of bugs that it brings alongside, since it is a beta build, however, Xiaomi will thankfully allow its users to choose to not go for the testing and return, through the fastboot mode, to the Android Pie based stable MIUI 10.
The list included only two Xiaomi phones, the Mi 9 and the Mi Mix 3 5G, when Google, at the I/O 2019, broadcasted the phones that were qualified enough for the Android Q beta 3.
The Redmi K20 Pro is the third Xiaomi phone to be a part of the Android Q beta testing program, according to a Mi Global website post. However, Google’s official list of smartphones qualified for getting the Android Q beta builds has not yet officially included Redmi K20 Pro’s name in the list.
Users of Redmi K20 Pro can sign themselves up for the testing of Android Q beta through the fastboot update route, and following it by the installation of the MIUI ROM flashing tool. In order to leave the Android Q beta program, one can again utilize the fastboot route. Regarding the Redmi K20 Pro’s Android Q beta build, it is 2.1GB in size and is unfortunately only accessible for the China variant.
Xiaomi also warns of the bugs that the beta testers may face, being a beta build. Issues might arise such as dealing with the fingerprint sensor, the Bluetooth connectivity, and crashing of apps.
