Four marvelous women were honored as the leader and inspiration for the bold, confident, strong, and smart by the Girls Inc. of Westchester County at the annual festival held at the Doral Arrowwood Resort. The renowned activist who happens to be a model and actress as well, Yara Shahidi, who is a co-star of the famous television series “Grown-ish”, and coming movie also took part in the celebrations of the evening and added her voice to the number of guests which exceeded 350 to salute the laureates.
The Executive director of Girls Inc. of Westchester, Michelle A Nicholas stated: “Tonight we pay tribute to four amazing women for the impact their achievements have had in various areas here in Westchester County and across the country. As examples of excellence and empowerment, they inspire us all.”
One of the major highlights of the evening were the Talks themed on TED where speeches were delivered by many young women who partook in the Girls Inc. Westchester which took place at the New Rochelle High School. The students shared their experiences and journey to becoming the bold, strong, and smart women with the audience offering fascinating accounts of their personal growth through the tolerance and art of learning to live with friendships, games, disabilities, etc.
Shahidi enlightened the audience with the information: “With everything that is going on in the world, it’s not easy being strong, smart and bold. The Girls Inc. Westchester participants that I met this evening are all that and more. They are optimistic, determined and committed to sharing their voices, ideas, and spirits with the world. I want to express my deep gratitude to Girls Inc. Westchester, because the uplift of my peers is something we are committed to paying forward through our humanitarianism, action, and kindness.”
